User Types
There are four dominant types of users that will come to your website. By having a clear understanding of the information these users are looking for we can layout our web page, position information and create content to cater for each type.

Spontaneous
Like crisp, clear solutions to their problems. They are quick decision makers and do not like impersonal facts.

Competitive
They love challenges and are looking to solve their problem. They will make decisions quickly and are looking for how your product/service will solve their problem.

Methodical
They are looking for detailed, professionally presented information on how their problem can be solved. Willing to scroll a page to find more detail but quick in decision making

Humanistic
Social bunch and slow to reach a decision. Want to know what others think of your product or services. Think about testimonials, case studies etc. A de facto standard for testimonial snippets is bottom right of your web page.

User Intentions

When any of these visitors come to our website they have one of four intentions. Our goal is a call to action and by knowing what their intentions are, as well as the type of visitor they are, we can guide them to that call to action.

Know Exactly
They are looking for features, brands, Model numbers and are ready to buy, knowing exactly what they want.

Comparing
Not decided on the actual purchase but know what they are looking for. Can be persuaded if benefits match their wants.

Initial Intentions
Not quite sure if they will buy but can be persuaded if your suggestions match something they might want.
