The design of a website is split into two parts, layout and style. The layout is the position of various elements on your web page and the style is the actual design, which is an online reflection of your brand.
Separating these two we start with the layout first and then put the design on top of the page elements.
The Website Layout
The reason we start with the layout is because the layout is determined by the users that come to your website. By understanding how users navigate and read your web page we can focus best on guiding the user to initiate a call to action, whether this is to contact you, buy your product or investigate further your service. The layout also incorporates the fundamental positioning techniques which are required to produce good search engine results.
The Web Design
Once we have our layout we can add design and style to the elements on the web page. The design will encompass your overall brand and take into account typeface, colours, icons and imagery. To be able to put a design onto a layout requires experience and Motive9 has in-house and outsourced designers specialising in this tricky area.
Design can be one of two levels, templates or bespoke.
Template designs: Whilst less expensive, our templates can deliver great looking results. By taking existing web designs and layouts, Motive9 can manipulate the templates to look and feel unique and reflect your brand.
Bespoke designs: Once the layout and site map is agreed between Motive9 and the client, this is passed onto our graphic designers who work directly with the client to produce a bespoke, amazing looking website. The resulting web design and layout are passed onto our coding team who deliver a pixel perfect website.
