Minimal requirements for updating your own website
It is important to be able to add new content regularly to your website for search engine promotion. As products and services change it is also important to be able to update content to reflect or advertise these changes to existing and potential customers. We therefore need the ability to update the website quickly, easily and affordably.
If we want to keep the website search engine friendly, then as a minimal requirement website owners should have the ability to do the following.
- Edit text
- Bold, italicise, underline selected text,
- Add images to content
- Add/edit descriptions to images
- Add a new page to the website
- Add this new page to a menu and be able to decide what words to use as the menu link
- Be able to control the title and heading of that page
- Be able to decide on the url of that page
- Be able to edit the meta description of that page.

Copying and pasting from Word directly into your website editor. A common mistake, but this affects formatting of your text and can add unwanted code to your content. Copy and paste into notepad first and then from notepad into your editor, this removes the unwanted formatting.
